Responsibilities

As the Radiation Safety Officer, you will organize and maintain a comprehensive radiation safety program for all research and medical facilities. Our program consists of a medical use license, research use license and certified registration with the state of Tennessee. Your focus in this role is coordinating the various programs, maintaining an effective training program, developing policies and procedures, and managing staff to meet operational objectives.

 

We want someone who will identify areas for improvement once a working knowledge of our program is achieved. You will oversee the clinical and research safety programs dealing with our proton/deuteron cyclotron, proton synchrotron, linear accelerators, cesium irradiators and biomedical research laboratories. Minimum Education

Master's degree in health physics, radiological physics, or related scientific discipline required.

PhD preferred
Board eligibility by the American Board of Health Physics preferred

Minimum Experience

Two years of experience in a medical/research radiation safety program required. Experience must include knowledge of federal and state regulations and management of a comprehensive license
