Division Director Clinical Informatics is responsible for providing direction, oversight, and management in support of the institutional infrastructure for supporting clinical computing systems and services. Provides overall direction in the planning, design, and support of the clinical application portfolio strategy. This position sets management priorities, oversees all formalized project plans and develops strategic plans and manages resources. Directs the operating/capital budget processes for the Clinical Informatics division, strategic planning processes and establishes controls to monitor operational efficiency. Serves as expert advisor on technical, quality and clinical operational issues and collaborates to document business plans to address key operational and decision-making issues. Provides creative problem-solving approaches for high-level operational issues. Works closely with Chief Information Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer, process owners, departmental leadership, and Clinical Informatics staff to promote the effective use of clinical systems in all areas and to maximize the value received from the investment in technology. Requires effective communication with peers and senior management.
Bachelor's degree in a clinical discipline, management information systems, healthcare or related field required.
Master's degree in business administration, Health Information Management or related field preferred.
Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in the support and implementation of clinical systems in a healthcare setting required.
Five (5) years of progressive management experience required.
Experience implementing, optimizing, upgrading, and enhancing Cerner Millennium suite of applications strongly preferred.
Previous experience in a pediatric or oncology setting preferred.
ITIL foundation certification preferred.
