Responsibilities

The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM)/St. Jude Global (SJG) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) is seeking a Finance Manager to direct the annual budget process and manage the financial operations of GPM/SJG. This key team member will interact with all levels of management, faculty and staff within GPM/SJG.

 

 

The Finance Manager is responsible for:

  • Managing the annual budget development process, identifying and implementing improvements to the budget process on an ongoing basis.
  • Recommending and developing strategies for effective financial management in a growing and expanding department
  • Working with medical directors and regional teams to translate financial tools, practices and guidelines into lay terms for increased efficiency
  • Providing leadership and supervision for finance staff
  • Managing all finance system-related activities and ad-hoc within GPM/SJG
  • Coordinating finance related ad-hoc projects within GPM/SJG
  • Serving as system security manager for department access requirements related to IBM COGNOS TM1
  • Working collaboratively with department leaders and contracts personnel, and SJCRH legal team to develop and implement agreements between GPM/SJG and St. Jude Global Alliance Members (partner sites), vendors, and other parties
  • Ensuring fiscal responsibilities for managing grants based in the department
  • Maximizing use and operational efficiency of computer systems utilized in the budgetary and decision support processes
  • Working both independently and collaboratively on a variety of projects

Minimum Education

  • Master's degree in accounting or finance or related area is required

Minimum Experience

  • Five (5) years health care financial and accounting experience involving budget development that includes three (3) years' experience developing cost accounting systems is required
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience in financial and accounting role is required
  • Experience with Decision Support Applications is required. Experience in an academic or healthcare setting or with research activities is preferred

Preferred Experience:

 

  • Experience in the international and health care setting.
  • Excellent, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills necessary.
  • Fluency in a second language; Spanish preferred.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives.
  • Interest in global health.
  • Cultural sensitivity is a must.
