St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Department of Diagnostic Imaging is looking for a highly motivated software engineer to develop and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities for medical imaging to support both departmental clinical and research initiatives. The successful candidate will participate in the planning, designing, coding, validation, implementation and documentation of medical processing streams and analysis, will manage computational systems for the Vision Lab within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, and will participate in developing, implementing, extending and maintaining a robust imaging informatics platform. The preferred candidate will maintain knowledge and proficiency of complex technologies, and will implement these complex technologies to improve the functionality and efficiency of the department. 

The preferred candidate will have a strong skill set and experience in software design and standard programming languages (Python, JAVA, Matlab), familiarity with database management tools and querying (such as SQL), familiarity with parallel computing in a high performance computing environment, familiarity with imaging informatics platforms (such as XNAT). The candidate will have knowledge of image analysis techniques and software (such as SPM, FSL, and/or Freesurfer), knowledge of medical imaging formats and standards (DICOM and/or nifti), and knowledge of UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer or physical science, or related degree required.
Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years of experience with current microcomputers and Unix /Linux workstations required. Including one (1) year of experience in a research or academic setting required.
Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting is preferred.
