Executes formal Conduct of Operations standards required to safely and effectively operate and maintain Facilities at SJCRH. Oversees all training, qualification, administrative, monitoring and auditing programs to continuously operate and maintain critical facilities in compliance with all facility, AAALAC, EPA, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and other operational code requirements. Ensures a safe and comfortable environment is maintained for the proper treatment of patients, visitors and staff. Assists the Director in achieving departmental goals. Ensures safe and proper supervision, monitoring, operation and maintenance of assigned areas, including systems and equipment according to departmental policies and procedures. Ensures regulatory compliance and maintains compliance for all assigned areas. Promotes a work environment that is conducive to excellence, professionalism, and teamwork at all levels. Resolves problems, emergencies and other matters affecting assigned areas of responsibility, including associated systems and equipment. Suspends activities when undue risks to health, safety, or the environment are identified. Reviews designs and provides project management services for proposed facility modifications, additions and expansions. Assists the Director in developing and achieving departmental goals, objectives and budgetary requirements. Develops and maintain all facility Operating and Emergency Procedures for assigned areas.
Associate's degree required.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
Substantial training in the philosophy and application of Conduct of Operations with two (2) years supervising or managing a critical facility with formal Conduct of Operations policies and procedures is required.
If Associate's degree, ten (10) years technical management experience in a hospital, research institution, education environment or related environment required.
If Bachelor's degree, two (2) years technical management experience in a hospital, research institution, education environment or related environment required.
Experience in a vivarium enviornment is highly preferred.
Steam Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement preferred.
Refrigeration Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement preferred.
