Summary

The Scientific Visualization Engineer will have a global impact in the fight against pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases!  This position will participate in the development of software applications and visualization tools necessary to display and communicate research data for knowledge mining and discovery to scientists world-wide.  The Scientific Visualization Engineer will design, develop and provide visualization methods, algorithms, software applications and technology platforms that are used to display multi-dimensional research data in interactive visual graphics and/or render 2D/3D representations of complex biological systems for the advancement of basic scientific research. In addition, the Scientific Visualization Engineer is responsible for assisting researchers and staff in the development, porting, optimization, debugging, and modification of application codes and visualization tools to run on the St. Jude research computing and Cloud-based systems with optimal performance.

Minimum Education

  • Master's Degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. A Doctorate in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Engineering or a related field with experience in scientific visualization, bioinformatics and/or image processing is preferred

Minimum Experience

  • Two (2) years of scientific visualization and/or parallel visualization experience in a scientific research environment is required. Previous experience with Web graphics development and 2D/3D rendering of objects using high performance computing systems is preferred
  • Compensated internship and/or research assistantship experience in scientific visualization and computational algorithm/methodology development during Master's degree and/or Doctorate program will be counted toward required experience
  • Experience with interactive visualization in a multidisciplinary science environment is preferred

Other Credentials

  • Registration, certification (or equivalent) in area of specialty preferred
