Summary

Leads or assists in the design, development, maintenance, troubleshooting and training of clinical laboratory information systems including interfaces and middleware. Integrates with and supports laboratory staff to develop efficient informatics workflows. Maintains documentation of approvals, testing, implementation, and follow-up.  Performs validation and integration testing of new code and modifications in laboratory information systems to prove acceptable performance. Performs basic troubleshooting of laboratory and other integrated systems. Maintains operational systems controls to maximize software functionality and to comply with regulatory requirements. Assists with basic training of system end users. 

 

Cerner PathNet reference lab interface experience preferred.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory technologist training program that was, at the time of graduation, either NAACLS approved or approved pursuant to TN Rule 1200-06-02-.04. Educational requirements may be waived for applicants possessing HEW certification from passing the Health and Human Services proficiency examination on or before September 1, 1997 and who meet criteria outlined in TN Rule 1200-06-02-.22.

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years of experience as a Medical Technologist working in a Clinical laboratory is required

Training and experience as an end-user of laboratory software is required

 

Required Credentials

Tennessee licensure as Medical Technologist-General or as a Special Analyst in assigned laboratory section required or eligible. Licensure must be obtained prior to working in lab independently.

Other Credentials

Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT preferred
